Alaska Volcano Ready To Blow?

1990 Eruption- stratovolcano Redoubt
Alaska Volcano Has Geologists on Alert

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Jan. 29) — Mount Redoubt, a volcano 100 miles southwest of Anchorage, is rumbling and simmering, prompting geologists to warn that an eruption may be imminent.

Scientists from the Alaska Volcano Observatory have been monitoring activity round-the-clock since the weekend.

On Thursday, the observatory said: "Seismicity remains above background and largely unchanged with several volcanic earthquakes occurring every hour."

The last time the 10,197-foot peak blew was during a five-month stretch starting in December 1989. It disrupted international air traffic and placed a layer of volcanic dust throughout the Anchorage area.

Volcanoes in Alaska, including Redoubt, typically erupt explosively, shooting ash almost eight miles high. Volcanic ash features small, jagged pieces of rock and glass.

This differs from volcanoes in Hawaii, which usually have slow rolling lava ooze out.

The difference is gas trying to escape gets blocked, possibly by a lava dome or a viscous magma that increases the power from beneath, said observatory geologist Jennifer Adleman.

"Its pressure keeps building and building," she said.

Depending on wind, the ash plume could be pushed straight at Anchorage, the state's largest city. This has prompted state and city officials to post bulletins on how to deal with the ash. Tips include staying inside, wearing a mask or wet bandanna if going outside and wearing goggles over contact lenses.

Once again, we have more volcanic activity taking place. This one however, is not one of the many that have awakened recently from hundreds and thousands of years of inactivity. Nonetheless, it does bear keeping an eye on.

Black Folks, Black Church Out Of Touch

Obama's Nonbeliever Nod Unsettles Some

(Jan. 23) - Not everyone was happy with President Barack Obama's nod to nonbelievers and non-Christians in his inaugural address. And some of the stiff criticism about Obama’s religious inclusiveness is coming from African-American Christians who maintain that no, all faiths were actually not created equal.

"For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness," the new president said. "We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this earth," he also said. Nothing too controversial, proclaiming that America's strength lies in its diversity.

But between those two statements, the new president got specific: "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers."

By mentioning, for the first time in an inaugural address, the 16.1 percent of Americans who check "no"’ when asked about religion, Obama turned it into the most controversial line in his speech -- praised by The New York Times editorial board and cited by some Christians as evidence that he is a heretic, and in his well-spoken way, a serious threat.

With that one line, the president "seems to be trying to redefine American culture, which is distinctively Christian," said’ Bishop E.W. Jackson of the Exodus Faith Ministries in Chesapeake, Va. "The overwhelming majority of Americans identify as Christians, and what disturbs me is that he seems to be trying to redefine who we are.’"

Earlier this week, Jackson was a guest on the popular conservative Christian radio show 'Janet Parshall's America,' where a succession of callers, many of whom identified themselves as African-American, said they shared the concern, and were perplexed and put off by the president’s shout-out to nonbelievers.

Parshall noted that atheists were celebrating the unexpected mention, and indeed they were: "In his inaugural address … President Barack Obama did what many before him should have done, rightly citing the great diversity of America as part of the nation's great strength, and including 'nonbelievers'’ in that mix,’" said Ed Buckner of American Atheists.

"His mother would have been proud,"’ Buckner said, referring to the fact that Obama’s mother was not a church-goer. "And so are we."

Jackson said he and others have no problem acknowledging that "this country is one in which everybody has the freedom to think what they want.’" Yet Obama crossed the line, in his view, in suggesting that all faiths (and none) were different roads to the same destination: "He made similar remarks in the campaign, and said, 'We are no longer a Christian nation, if we ever were. We are a Jewish, Hindu and non-believing nation.'"

Not so, Jackson says: "Obviously, Jewish heritage is very much a part of Christianity; the Jewish Bible is part of our Bible. But Hindu, Muslim, and nonbelievers? I don't think so. We are not a Muslim nation or a nonbelieving nation."’

With all the focus on Obama as the first African-American president, the succession of black callers to Janet Parshall's show was a reminder that the "community"’ is not a monolith, and that many socially conservative black Americans are at odds with Obama's views, particularly on abortion and gay rights. Nor do they all define civil rights in the same way.

The Rev. Cecil Blye, pastor of More Grace Ministries Church in Louisville, Ky., said the president's reference to nonbelievers also set off major alarm bells for him. "It's important to understand the heritage of our country, and it's a Judeo-Christian tradition,"’ period.

But his even bigger beef with the president, he said, is that a disproportionate number of "black kids are dying each day through abortion. President Obama is supportive of abortion, and that's a genocide on black folks. Nobody wants to talk about that as a civil rights issue."

Please, do I throw up now or later? Is this so-called Bishop Jackson, Rev Blye and radio talking head Janet Parshall all smoking the same bad weed or ingesting the wrong mushrooms? This is what's wrong with this country and humanity in general. People like this are totally blinded by the "religious myth". And yeah messengers of ignorance, "there really are "non believers"! Non believers actually have as much of a right to be here, if not more, than all of YOU mindless followers of the "myth".

One last question, "why is being supportive of abortion rights genocide against just black folks"? WHY does race always have to factor in everything? Doesn't anyone acknowledge that we are all human beings no matter what the skin tone is? Anyone that cannot grasp that concept is an idiot and shouldn't even have a place at the table of life on this planet.

Also, thank YOU President Obama for reversing or suspending the "wolf kill" legislation proposed by Bush. That are better ways to control them without killing off one of the most social and intelligent species on the planet.

Rants, Observations, Opinions & Links

Haven't done one of these in awhile now, but, it's time to "express myself"!

We now have our new president in place and ready to go. As most of YOU know, I did not support Barack Obama. I did not think he was ready yet, and, I was ticked because the Dems basically screwed Hillary Clinton out of the nomination. Not to mention that I knew I would make a better president and that is why I voted for me. With all of that being said, "I will support our new President, however, he has to "show me what he's got, NOW"! Enough with the nice speeches and rhetoric. It is time to get busy, or, we will not need a president!

As for all of you "sorry loser Republican conservative wussies", get over it! YOU lost because, "YOU are losers". YOU run around here with your almighty, rigtheous, god fearing, bible banging bs trying to scare people in the name of religion. Religion, the biggest myth ever placed on humanity. It's really ashame too, because, in the early going when YOU were still in it, dorks like Hannity and Limbaugh actually had some intelligent points to pass along to folks on the fence. But now, "it's all negative "hope he fails" garbage. YOU guys are lucky that he won and not me. If I were pres, I would probably have both of YOU locked up for treason, sabotage or any other miscellaneous charge I could bring. Yeah, people like the above mentioned pair do more harm to this country than good. And YOU brainless close minded wimps that buy into their rubbish, please, don't propagate the species, "the gene pool is already contaminated".

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of spending a little time with a gentleman who resides in Finland these days. This young man is originally from Toronto, Canada. He has also lived in New York City. He has been in Finland for 11 years now and has NO intentions of leaving. As our conversation dealt with the global economic crises and particularly the USA's situation, comparisons did arise. He said, "having lived in Canada, which is a mix of socialism and capitalism, the States, which is all capitalism, and Finland, which is all socialism, I think I prefer socialism first". Some of the reasons he gave are. There is NO poverty. There are NO ghettos and slums. Everyone that wants to work, has a job. We all have health care, as much education as we want and we all have a nice place to live. Safety is unmatched. Anyone can walk or be out anywhere at anytime without fear of being accosted. We do pay heavy taxes for this life style. There are NO over the top rich, but, there are no poor people either. There is alot less stress and tension with this life style. Gives YOU something to think about. I would love to see this happen here just to tick off all the tight ass conservative talking heads. Yeah, YOU know who YOU are!

If I have not given YOU enough already, here are a couple of sites YOU may want to check out. YOU need "OPYN MINDZ" to get into these. Enjoy, and don't be afraid, after all, if they are true or not, "there is nothing YOU can do about it"!

2012 Galactic Alignment - Earth, Sun, Milky Way Black Hole

Black hole confirmed in Milky Way

There is a giant black hole at the centre of our galaxy, a 16-year study by German astronomers has confirmed.

They tracked the movement of 28 stars circling the centre of the Milky Way, using two telescopes in Chile.

The black hole, said to be 27,000 light years from Earth, is four million times bigger than the Sun, according to the paper in The Astrophysical Journal.

Black holes are objects whose gravity is so great that nothing - including light - can escape them.

According to Dr Robert Massey, of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS), the results suggest that galaxies form around giant black holes in the way that a pearl forms around grit.

'The black pearl'

Dr Massey said: "Although we think of black holes as somehow threatening, in the sense that if you get too close to one you are in trouble, they may have had a role in helping galaxies to form - not just our own, but all galaxies.

"They had a role in bringing matter together and if you had a high enough density of matter then you have the conditions in which stars could form.

"Thus the first generation of stars and galaxies could have come into existence".

The researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Germany said the black hole was 27,000 light years, or 158 thousand, million, million miles from the Earth.

"Undoubtedly the most spectacular aspect of our 16-year study, is that it has delivered what is now considered to be the best empirical evidence that super-massive black holes do really exist," said Professor Reinhard Genzel, head of the research team.

"The stellar orbits in the galactic centre show that the central mass concentration of four million solar masses must be a black hole, beyond any reasonable doubt."

Observations were made using the 3.5m New Technology Telescope and the 8.2m Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile. Both are operated by the European Southern Observatory (Eso).

"Wake up people, this is just the beginning. There are many more discoveries coming our way that will totally change everything YOU thought YOU knew about life, the planet, the universe and your own existence". It's time to awaken!

The Lottery Rules

Widow Wins Lottery on Spouse's Ticket

DANBURY, Conn. (Jan. 3) - On the day that Donald Peters died, he unknowingly provided financial security for his wife of 59 years and their family.

Peters bought two Connecticut Lottery tickets at a local 7-Eleven store on Nov. 1 as part of a 20-year tradition he shared with his wife Charlotte. Later that day, the 79-year-old retired hat factory worker suffered a fatal heart attack while working in his yard in Danbury.

On Friday, his widow cashed in one of the tickets: a $10 million winner which, in her grief over her husband's death, she had put aside and almost discarded before recently checking the numbers.

"I'm numb," Charlotte Peters, 78, said at Connecticut Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill.

Donald Peters usually bought the tickets for 10 weeks at a stretch, so the winning ticket he bought Nov. 1 for the Dec. 2 drawing was among several that Charlotte Peters put aside as she, their three children and two grandchildren coped with his sudden death.

"I was in the grocery store and I had it checked and they told me I was a winner," she said. "I had no idea how much it was."

She said she thought she had won $6 million but was surprised to learn from lottery officials she'd won $10 million.

Charlotte Peters has 60 days to decide whether to take a $6 million pre-tax lump sum payment or stretch the winnings into 21 yearly payments of almost $477,300 each.

She does not yet know what she will do with the money.

"I've always wanted a Corvette, but I don't think I'll buy one. I'll stick to a small car. I might go to Mohegan Sun," she said, referring to the casino in Connecticut. "I'm going to go home and sit and think."

The Peters children think their father would have appreciated the irony.

"He'd be very mad, he just passed away and she won a lot of money," said Brian Peters, one of the couple's three children. "He'd say, 'Figures!'"

This story is for all of YOU lottery naysayers and just flat out negative pessimistic losers. YOU know who YOU are. As I have said time and time again, "the odds are long, but, somebody always wins, and, if YOU have a ticket, it could be YOU". By the way, POWERBALL is worth $105,000,000 this week. Does that get YOU interested?

Yellowstone & Indonesia Earthquakes

New vent at Kiluaea
Yellowstone Earthquakes Raise Fears

(Jan. 3) - Several more earthquakes rattled Yellowstone National Park on Friday, raising fears over the recent geological activity in the area.

Since Dec. 26, about 400 temblors have rumbled under the park, centered under the northern end of Yellowstone Lake. The small quakes Friday registered up to a magnitude of 3.5.

Swarms of small earthquakes happen frequently in Yellowstone, but it's very unusual for so many earthquakes to happen over several days, says Robert Smith, a professor of geophysics at the University of Utah.

"They're certainly not normal," Smith said. "We haven't had earthquakes in this energy or extent in many years."

"Could it develop into a bigger fault or something related to hydrothermal activity? We don't know. That's what we're there to do, to monitor it for public safety."

Smith said it's difficult to say what might be causing the tremors. He pointed out that Yellowstone is the caldera of a volcano that last erupted 70,000 years ago.

Yellowstone has had significant earthquakes as well as minor ones in recent decades. In 1959, a magnitude 7.5 quake near Hebgen Lake just west of the park triggered a landslide that killed 28 people.

As we have witnessed in the past year, a number of "inactive/dormant" volcanoes have come to life and erupted. Some of these recent ones have been dormant for up to ten thousand years. The one in Yellowstone that could possibly be coming to life, is so old that it does not even have a name. I, and a few informed awake friends, suspect that all of this volcanic activity, along with other events taking place, is part of a cyclical change and shift that the planet is going through. Be awake, and, pay attention!

7.2 Earthquake Strikes Eastern Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia (Jan. 3) - A strong earthquake in remote eastern Indonesia cut power lines, cracked building walls and sent panicked residents running out of their homes toward higher ground Sunday, authorities and witnesses said.

The Indonesian Meteorology and Seismology Agency warned that with a preliminary magnitude of 7.2 it was strong enough to cause a tsunami. However, there were no immediate reports of giant waves and the warning was lifted within an hour.

The tremor struck at 2:43 a.m. local time, around 85 miles off the coast of Manokwari, Papua, at a depth of 6 miles.

The U.S. Geological Survey put the strength at a more powerful 7.6 magnitude and nearly three times the depth. Shallow earthquakes generally cause more damage than deeper ones.

Electricity went off and people fled their homes in the dark, fearing a tsunami, said Hasim Rumatiga, a local health official.

In the town of Sorong, very near to the epicenter, a resident told El Shinta radio buildings and houses had been slightly damaged.

Indonesia straddles a chain of fault lines and volcanoes known as the Pacific "Ring of Fire" and is prone to seismic activity. A huge quake off western Indonesia caused the 2004 Asian tsunami that killed around 230,000 people, more than half of them in Sumatra.

This is probably one of the worse places YOU could be if the planet is going to go through it's normal cycles and shifts. Just for the simple fact of it being in the "Ring Of Fire" area of the Pacific. With the fault lines and major volcano prescence, it is a major disaster area. Take heed and be vigilant!
