SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Barry Bonds' pursuit of the home run record might have been juiced after all.
According to an upcoming book written by two San Francisco Chronicle reporters, Bonds used a vast array of performance-enhancing drugs - steroids, human growth hormone, insulin - for at least five seasons beginning in 1998.
An excerpt from "Game of Shadows," which lays out extensive details of the slugger's alleged doping program, appears in the March 13 issue of Sports Illustrated.
The reason I am on this story is, because baseball has always been my favorite sport. Probably because I was a really good player. Always made the all star team and, even made All State in New Jersey a couple of times. Pitched back to back "no hitters" in my first year in American Legion ball. Yeah, I was good. And was not doing performance enhancing drugs!
The thing that bothers me the most about all this steroid stuff is the fact that some of these "artificially enhanced idiots" numbers are over shadowing the legitimate numbers put up by the likes of Hank Aaron, Roger Maris, Babe Ruth, George Foster, Willie Stargell, Willie Mays etc. Which is a slap in the face of some of the "greats" of the game, the American pastime, baseball!
Listen, I know some of you don't care. All you want to do is see the ball fly out of the park. Hey, that's cool! However, don't give me that bullshit that Barry Bonds' home runs are as legit as Aarons. That goes for Maguire and Sosa also. You want to acknowledge them and their achievements, fine, have a separate set of records and a separate hall of fame. The chemically enhanced baseball stats and stars and, the real baseball stats and stars.
For you people that are too ignorant, or, in self denial about your favorite steroid using player, DO NOT run that crap on me about "well, he's never tested positive for use"! Yeah, and some large breasted overnight women have NEVER HAD BREAST AUGMENTATION surgery either! Right! Unless you are blind and have not seen the difference in Barry Bonds head size over the years, YOU are the reason the STUPID PEOPLE site exists!
