RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (AP) - Enraged crowds rioted across Pakistan and hopes for democracy hung by a thread after Benazir Bhutto was gunned down Thursday as she waved to supporters from the sunroof of her armored vehicle. The death of President Pervez Musharraf's most powerful opponent threw the nation into chaos just 12 days before elections, and threatened its already unsteady role as a key fighter against Islamic terror.

The murder of Bhutto, one of Pakistan's most famous and enduring politicians, sparked violence that killed at least nine people and plunged efforts to restore democracy to this nuclear-armed U.S. ally into turmoil.

Another opposition politician, Nawaz Sharif, announced he was boycotting Jan. 8 parliamentary elections in which Bhutto was hoping to recapture the premiership, and Musharraf reportedly weighed canceling the poll.

Bhutto, 54, was struck down amid scenes of blood and chaos as an unknown gunman opened fire and, according to witnesses and police, blew himself up, killing 20 other people.

When I woke up this morning, December 27, 2007, and saw that Benazir Bhutto had died from some cowardly heathens bullets and bombs, it totally sickened me. This was a great lady that stood for democracy and helping the poor and less fortunate. However, her life was snuffed out by the pigs of this planet for their own greedy power hungry purposes. I am talking about the "male" species of humans.

YOU cannot even refer to these losers as animals. They are beneath animals in every way. These ignorant pieces of crap that do stuff like this in the name of some imaginary god need to be wiped from the planet and civilization. Further more, the idiots that support them should also be eliminated permanently. In the name of peace and intelligence.

Benazir will have her satisfaction and goals attained. What she represented and longed for cannot be dismissed. Maybe sidetracked, maybe prolonged, however, it will come to pass.

Microsoft X-Box 360 Rant(Ticked Off)

Recently, all YOU have heard about is how bad things made in China are. Well, excuse me, but, "how about the crap that originates in the good ole US of A"? Namely, Microsoft crap.

My son got an X-Box 360 when they first came out. He has had to return it to Microsoft "FIVE" times already. The latest return was the week before Christmas 2007. Each time, we have to call and explain that the system(piece of crap) failed again. They take all your info and send YOU a packing box. The shipping is prepaid by them(how generous). YOU then have to take the box to Fed Ex or UPS to be shipped off. Eventually, it is returned. Usually it is the same console "repaired", a refurbished console, or, maybe a new one. Either way, it will crap out again within a couple of months and YOU have to repeat the process all over again.

On our most recent send back, we got the console back the day after Christmas. The same unit, "repaired". However, the power supply cord was broken so that we cant use the system. We had to call and try to explain the problem to some "alien/foreign" call center that couldn't even understand what we were talking about. Eventually, they said we would be shipped a new cord. This is "total unacceptable bullsh-t"! Bill Gates should be ashamed to have his companies name attached to a piece of poorly made garbage like this!

My advice, buy a PS3 or a Wii. It is not worth the hassle after YOU spend a few hundred dollars for this junk. Hey, Mr. Gates, stop trying to save the world etc and fix your companies gaming platform or, "get out of the business"!

MGM Opens Grand Casino in Macau

MACAU (Dec. 18) - Socialites and showbiz stars joined business tycoons Tuesday for the opening of the MGM Grand Macau, the latest Las Vegas-backed casino to crowd into the tiny Chinese gambling enclave, hoping to lure China's growing middle class.

The US$1.25 billion (euro850 million) MGM Grand is a joint venture between Las Vegas casino operator MGM Mirage and Pansy Ho, former socialite and the daughter of Macau's former casino kingpin, Stanley Ho.

It is jockeying for high rollers with dozens of casinos already stationed in Macau, the only place in China where gambling is legal and which last year raked in more gaming revenue than the Las Vegas Strip.

Dozens of guests began arriving for a black-tie opening ceremony Tuesday evening, sweeping up the grand driveway in black chauffeured limousines. The public would get their first glimpse inside the mirror and steel building just before 11 p.m. (1500 GMT).

The high-profile guest list included Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, top Macau government officials, as well as local celebrities and tycoons, including Stanley Ho, a spokeswoman said.

Stanley Ho ran the casino business in Macau for 40 years until 2001 - two years after the Portuguese colony returned to Chinese rule - when the government broke up his monopoly and handed out gaming concessions to foreign interests.

American Sheldon Adelson was the first to enter the territory, opening the Sands Macau in 2004, and then this August the US$2.4 billion (euro1.67 billion) Venetian, a Las Vegas style mega casino-resort complete with Italian gondolas punting down indoor canals.

Pansy Ho said the 600-room MGM Grand will target the wealthiest gamblers, called "VIP customers" in the business, who are interested in high-end shopping and entertainment as well as gambling.

Amsterdam Evolving & Cleaning Up, But Still Cool

Amsterdam to clean up "Red Light" district

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The city of Amsterdam announced plans Monday to clean up its infamous "red light" district to fight human trafficking, money laundering and drug abuse and replace prostitutes' windows with upmarket boutiques.

Amsterdam Mayor Job Cohen told a news conference he wanted to clamp down on the organized criminals whose growing influence has corrupted the historic city center.

"The romantic picture of the area is outdated if you see the abuses in the sex industry and that is why the council has to act," he said. "We don't want to get rid of prostitution but we do want to cut crime significantly."

Cohen said the city wanted to partially reverse the full legalization of prostitution introduced in the Netherlands in 2000 because it had not achieved its aim of bringing the profession out of the shadows and protecting sex workers.

The city wants to fight forced prostitution by clamping down on pimps and demanding that brothel owners, escort agencies and those who protect prostitutes apply for permits. It also wants the minimum age for prostitutes lifted to 21 from 18.

Prostitutes have plied their wares in the narrow alleys of the old center of Amsterdam for centuries. While they used to attract sailors and merchants in the city's heyday as the heart of a global trading empire, they are now a huge tourist draw.

Deputy mayor Lodewijk Asscher said the city wants to restore a number of historic buildings and reverse the decline of a large central area where brothels, sex clubs and the coffee shops that sell marijuana line the city's canals.

The neon-lit boudoirs that earn about 70 million euros ($100 million) a year should be limited to a few streets while drop-in centers for the homeless and drug addicts are relocated.

They will be replaced by chic apartments, upmarket shops, galleries and high-quality hotels and restaurants, Asscher said, adding that young fashion designers already plan to display their clothes in the windows of one former brothel from January.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

The city is not afraid of losing the "boorish Brits" who currently throng the 800-year-old district, he said, adding they should be replaced by tourists wanting to see its churches.

"It will always be an exciting city with more freedom and more tolerance than elsewhere in the world," Asscher said.

"There will be other tourists and maybe more tourists but if you go here as a tourist you don't have to feel embarrassed or ashamed about what you see. You can be assured that those prostitutes who remain are not working involuntarily."

While legalization was supposed to turn prostitutes into self-employed taxpayers who did not need pimps for protection, the city said the industry is still dominated by criminals attracted by the 370 euros each woman can earn a day.

It has already withdrawn permits from dozens of sex businesses it accuses of links with organized crime including the Yab Yum, which calls itself the world's most exclusive men's club and is fighting closure in the courts.

Mariska Majoor, a former prostitute who now runs an information center in the red light district, said the city's plans could force hundreds of women out of work or underground.

"Where should the women go?" she asked. "They are only talking about criminals and gangsters. We're talking about a legal profession here ... They completely ignore the hundreds of women who are working of their own free will."

All in all, I think Amsterdam is on the right track to fixing what could become a major problem and nuisance. You always get the criminal dirtbag element trying to muzzle in on something and eventually screwing it up for everyone. If they, the politicians, do this the right way, they can have their cake and eat it too.

Amsterdam is probably the most open, progressive cool city on the Earth. Fixing this small deteriation the right way, should keep it's stature on the world market.

Nintendo Wii Rain Checks

GameStop to Sell Wii Rain Checks

To deal with frustration among holiday shoppers hunting for its Wii game console, Nintendo Co. and retailer GameStop Corp. are launching a rain check program.

"We expect this to be a great way for consumers who desperately want a Wii to have something to put under the tree," Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said Friday.

The rain checks will be available at the regular Wii system price, $249.99, on Dec. 20 and 21, and will entitle buyers to get the Nintendo console before Jan. 29. Fils-Aime said "many tens of thousands of rain checks" would be available.

GameStop regularly takes deposits on hot software titles before they launch, which means it has the infrastructure to deal with rain check program, Fils-Aime said. The company is working with other retailers, like Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) (WMT) and Best Buy Co. (BBY) (BBY), to push out inventory from the supply chain to shelves as quickly as possible before Christmas, he added.

The Wii has been a startling success for the Japanese company, selling more than 6 million units in the U.S. since it was launched a little over a year ago. In November alone, 981,000 were sold in the U.S., according to NPD Group. That compares to 770,000 Microsoft Xbox 360s sold, and 466,000 Sony PlayStation 3s.

However, Wii sales have been constrained by supply, with units selling out minutes after going on store shelves. Nintendo has repeatedly denied rumors that it's creating an artificial shortage by not increasing production to match demand.

"I get personal calls from people wanting to know why we don't just manufacture more. Believe me, if it were that easy, we would," Fils-Aime told reporters and analysts on a conference call Friday.

"Production depends on components from a wide array of suppliers. If only one can't increase their capacity, then we can't increase ours," the executive said.

After Nintendo raised production twice since April, production for the worldwide market is now at 1.8 million Wiis a month. Fils-Aime held out no hope of an imminent increase.

"We'll keep producing at that level for quite a while," he said. "When will we finally meet demand? There is no way to answer that question until we finally meet it."

Hey, this is a pretty cool way to try and get a Wii in a short period of time. Even if not for Christmas day. I was in this situation last Christmas and it took me until March to finally get a Wii. Good luck and be persistent!

WASHINGTON (Dec. 11) - An already relentless melting of the Arctic greatly accelerated this summer, a warning sign that some scientists worry could mean global warming has passed an ominous tipping point. One even speculated that summer sea ice would be gone in five years.

Greenland's ice sheet melted nearly 19 billion tons more than the previous high mark, and the volume of Arctic sea ice at summer's end was half what it was just four years earlier, according to new NASA satellite data obtained by The Associated Press.

"The Arctic is screaming," said Mark Serreze, senior scientist at the government's snow and ice data center in Boulder, Colo.

Just last year, two top scientists surprised their colleagues by projecting that the Arctic sea ice was melting so rapidly that it could disappear entirely by the summer of 2040.

This week, after reviewing his own new data, NASA climate scientist Jay Zwally said: "At this rate, the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free at the end of summer by 2012, much faster than previous predictions."

So scientists in recent days have been asking themselves these questions: Was the record melt seen all over the Arctic in 2007 a blip amid relentless and steady warming? Or has everything sped up to a new climate cycle that goes beyond the worst case scenarios presented by computer models?

Tina Turner's Ex, Ike Dead At 76

Rock 'n' Roll Pioneer Ike Turner Dies at 76

SAN DIEGO (Dec. 12) - Ike Turner, whose role as one of rock's critical architects was overshadowed by his ogrelike image as the man who brutally abused former wife Tina Turner , died Wednesday at his home in suburban San Diego. He was 76.

Turner died at his San Marcos home, Scott M. Hanover of Thrill Entertainment Group, which managed Turner's career, told The Associated Press.

There was no immediate word on the cause of death, which was first reported by celebrity Web site TMZ.com.

Turner managed to rehabilitate his image somewhat in later years, touring around the globe with his band the Kings of Rhythm and drawing critical acclaim for his work. He won a Grammy in 2007 in the traditional blues album category for "Risin' With the Blues."

But his image is forever identified as the drug-addicted, wife-abusing husband of Tina Turner. He was hauntingly portrayed by Laurence Fishburne in the movie "What's Love Got To Do With It," based on Tina Turner's autobiography.

Tina Turner declined to comment on her ex-husband's death.

I did have the chance to meet Ike Turner back in the day when he and Tina first were getting started and made their first appearance in New York City at the Apollo Theatre. Though I was still a kid then, I was just starting to learn to play guitar. I learned some nice licks from watching Ike. I did have the occassion to run into him years later when I started playing and touring around the country with various artist. To me, Ike was no different than any of the other artist of the time. His personality fit right in with the likes of Wilson Pickett, Billy Stewart, James Brown, Gene Chandler or any of the other performers.

America, Dumbed Down By The White Man

While listening to the Dan Patrick Dan Patrick Online sports talk radio show Monday December 10, 2007, I had one of my many questions answered.

The topic/discussion was on Michael Vick who was going to be sentenced sometime this morning. The question Dan was bouncing around was, "do YOU think Vick deserves another chance to play football, a second chance, and, "do YOU think there is an owner that would take him with all the negative publicity of killing and abusing dogs"?

The question that I had answered was, "why is this country in such a mess these days and why does everyone else look down on the USA"? The answer is, "because of ignorant, stupid, uneducated, misinformed, non compassionate, barbaric, back woods, illiterate, goober, redneck 20-50 year old "WHITE MEN"! If YOU could have heard some of the answers and rational these dumbasses were spitting out, YOU would have been ashamed to call yourself a human being. And the bad part, our country, for the most part, is being run by idiots like this. This is why we are in the shape we are in nationally and globally. NO CLASS, JUST DUMB ASS!

Dan did give these dorks a short leash(no pun intended). They had their say, he moved on. Probably wondering to himself if what he heard was actually from a supposed "intelligent being".

Oh, and just to show I am NOT impartial, a bunch of the "BLACK MEN" that called in were equally as ignorant from another angle. However, they are not running the country.

Zeppelin Has Mixed Views on More Shows

LONDON (AP) - Will Led Zeppelin's long-awaited reunion lead to more concerts?

Guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant and bass player John Paul Jones will perform Monday at London's 02 Arena, a benefit tribute to Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun, who died last year.

It will be the rock band's first concert in almost two decades.

"I must say that after our initial get-together it was so exhilarating and fun that I did feel I would like to do more," Q music magazine quoted Page, 63, as saying.

"I've got things I've been working on for the past four years that I'm proud of," he says. "Some of the songs I've got ready are as good as anything I've done in the past. I wouldn't necessarily save them for my solo career."

Jones, 61, tells both Q and Rolling Stone magazine that he has no idea whether more concerts will follow.

"I guess the door has been left slightly ajar," he tells Q. "We'll have to see how we feel about it afterwards."

Plant, 59, tells Rolling Stone magazine in its Dec. 13 issue: "If people don't talk about a tour, anything is likely. The more people talk, the more pressure it puts on everybody."

And if there is no more Led Zeppelin after Monday's show, "That's fine," he says, "because we will do it with a good heart."

Led Zeppelin split up in 1980 after the death of drummer John Bonham. They will be joined at Monday's concert by Bonham's son Jason.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Graphic scenes of gunshot victims spurting blood and a jailer urinating into a prisoner's cell are included among the 10 video games that a media watchdog group warns should be avoided by kids and teens under 17.

With the holiday shopping season in full swing, the National Institute on Media and the Family presented its 12th annual video game report card Tuesday to help parents decide what games are appropriate for their children.

"There's an endless stream of new games that will never be suitable for children," said Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., who joined institute officials and other lawmakers at a news conference.

Efforts to protect children from the dangers posed by excessively violent video games have not kept pace with growth of the video game industry, the institute said.

Institute officials cited "growing complacency" among game retailers, parents and the gaming industry on video game ratings.

"Unfortunately, we're seeing some steps backwards," said institute president David Walsh.
Walsh said fewer retailers, for example, are participating in efforts to educate their customers and employers about the video game ratings.

The institute, a media watchdog group, cited figures showing that nearly half of kids between 8 and 12 have played M-rated games intended for those 17 and over.

But the industry's Entertainment Software Rating Board, which assigns game ratings, defended the effectiveness of its program.

"At a time of year when parents are looking for helpful guidance about video games, this year's report card does little more than sow unwarranted doubt about effective tools like ESRB ratings," said ESRB president Patricia Vance.

Vance said a recent Federal Trade Commission report called the ESRB rating system useful and informative for parents.

The institute showed gory scenes of sword, gun and knife violence from several video games. A scene from "Assassin's Creed" depicts an attacker plunging a knife into his victim's back several times. A jailer in "Manhunt 2" taunts his prisoner by urinating into the man's cell. A fallen victim's body is riddled with gunfire as blood spurts across the screen in "The Darkness."
