Sarah Palin, Republican VP Choice

You know, I'm not sure whether it's because I have gotten older, or, wiser or more enlightened, but, I am seeing things alot differently then I saw them years ago. Though most of my thoughts and perspectives have remained the same, I am still basically a "liberal" at heart, some of my takes ARE different.

I am still "pro choice" under any circumstances. I do support the 2nd amendment and believe bigtime in the right to own and bear weapons. I also believe in legalizing just about everything, ie, marijuana, gambling, prostitution etc. I also believe strongly in protecting the environment, and, foremost, "all of the other inhabitants of this planet". However, I also believe that "any resources that have been placed upon this planet are here to be used by us". Therefore, we should make every attempt possible to obtain and use what the universe, the Creator, and the planet have given us. Albeit, doing it as safely and as prudently as possible so not to jeopardize other forms of life and the environment that we live in.

With all of this being said, although she is "pro life" and "hunts", I was glad to see that Alaska's governor, Sarah Palin, was picked to be the VP running mate for the Republican party. Having read a bunch of stuff on her, she should be a credit to any party anywhere. She should also be a credit to the female species. CamPain '08: SOS(Same Old Sht)

"Change we/YOU can believe in." Change my ass! It's the Four Tops all over again. The "Same Old Song". I figure about right now, JFK and brother RFK, are sitting around somewhere and collectively saying, "what in the hell are these Democrats doing to the party"?

Let's break it down. YOU have this empty suit puppet, with NO track record or resume or experience in anything, being the Democrats nominee for president. He, in turn, picks a business as usual old school politician that wanted to be president and was turned away a couple of times(which translates to LOSER)as his running mate. "Hey, Mr. Madison Avenue creation, where is the CHANGE"? "What, wouldn't Nancy (save the earth) Pelosi approve of a risky adventurous choice"? Based on your ineptitude, there are alot of people that will NOT vote this election. Especially NOT for YOU and your flip flopping arrogant uneducated politics. As recent polls have shown, "the American people really don't want either of YOU guys as candidates". That's pretty sad.

YOU, Mr. Wannabe President At Any Cost, have your work cut out for YOU. The women have been shown NO respect by your party. Without them, YOU are going nowhere. The evangelicals, YOU can kiss them goodbye. Older folks, forget it. Educated folks, black and white, forget it. And, in case YOU might have forgotten, "this is still prejudice USA". Which means, "there are a significant number of whites that will not vote for a black person". If I am not mistaken, in this life and country, "YOU are black"!

To the Democrats, "YOU sure screwed this up". If there was ever a year that YOU should have walked into the White House uncontested, this was it. But as of this writing, YOU are either in a dead heat or trailing John McCain. How does that taste? However, YOU can redeem things, make Hillary the nominee. That is about the only shot you've got. Unless of course, "YOU smoke enough pot in Denver to really not care"!

My vote goes to, "write in candidate".

Opinions, Thoughts, Observations & Commentary

You know, there is so much crap going on these days, that I'm not even sure where I want to start. So, I guess I will start with Russia vs Georgia.

Russia vs Georgia

For the last few days now, I have read and listened to all kinds of stuff about this conflict. Using my superior intellect, I have come to the conclusion that "both" sides bear fault in this. I do believe that the Russians have been a little heavy handed and over the top with their response. I think the best course of action would be to try to mediate a settlement that is equitable to both sides. The Russians cannot just go in and take over the country. If this is the path they want to take, it would be a huge mistake and should solicit all out reprisals against them. Crap like that cannot be tolirated in this time. Since I have new found friends that are from this part of the world, I would like to see this resolved peacfully, now!

Democratic Presidential Fiasco

It's really ashame what is going on here. I mean, I actually think Barack Obama is a pretty cool guy. However, "president", NOT! As I heard a black person on Sean Hannity's show say, "black folks are voting for Obama just because he is black". You know what, he's right! Not one single person that I have heard can give any credible reason why they are voting for this guy. He has NO track record/resume, his views are weak, childish, naive and stupid, and, his associations are "red flag city". In essence, "he is just not ready at this time"! With the way the world is today, YOU people better wake up and start making some informed intelligent choices with your "mindz" instead of your hearts. "Oh, by the way, DO NOT count Hillary out"!

Iraq, Iran, Terrorist, the World

The state of affairs that we find ourselves in today, could be traced back to Bush Sr. As cruel and cold and unreasonable as this may sound, trust me, it would have worked, if he had dropped ONE nuke in the dessert on some out of the way village or terrorist camp, alot of what is going on now would have never taken place. The way our world has evolved, the only thing "dirt bags and losers" understand is sheer power and force. Everything else is percieved as "weakness". Thus, YOU will be tried over and over.

Oil, Energy, Naivete & Stupidity

When will the powers that be in this country wake up and start using our own resources? Oh, that's right, we cant do that or we will screw up the environment. Plus, Nancy Pelosi's job is to save the planet. Hello, idiots, "the planet has been here for 4 billion years". YOU cannot hurt the planet! It will always rebound as it has for millions of years! Hypothetical scenario. We don't fix our own energy problem for fear of screwing up the Earth. We just sit around and suffer with high prices and shortages etc. Then, low and behold, some natural universal event takes place that totally reboots the planet. Most of us are whacked, and, we were miserable before that because we were afraid we would "hurt the planet". "Wake up people, start using what the Universe and Earth have given us". Remember the old saying, "use it or lose it".

Marijuana Reforms Proposed-Pass the Joint

Ease Pot Restrictions, Lawmakers Urge

The U.S. should stop arresting responsible marijuana users, Rep. Barney Frank said Wednesday, announcing a proposal to end federal penalties for Americans carrying fewer than 100 grams, almost a quarter-pound, of the substance.

Current laws targeting marijuana users place undue burdens on law enforcement resources, punish ill Americans whose doctors have prescribed the substance and unfairly affect African-Americans, said Frank, flanked by legislators and representatives from advocacy groups.

"The vast amount of human activity ought to be none of the government's business," Frank said on Capitol Hill. "I don't think it is the government's business to tell you how to spend your leisure time."

The Massachusetts Democrat and his supporters emphasized that only the use -- and not the abuse -- of marijuana would be decriminalized if the resolution resulted in legislation.

The Drug Enforcement Administration says people charged with simple possession are rarely incarcerated. The agency and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy have long opposed marijuana legalization, for medical purposes or otherwise.

Marijuana is a Schedule I controlled substance, meaning it has a high potential for abuse and no accepted medical use, according to the drug control office.

"Smoked marijuana has not withstood the rigors of science -- it is not medicine and it is not safe," the DEA states on its Web site. "Legalization of marijuana, no matter how it begins, will come at the expense of our children and public safety. It will create dependency and treatment issues, and open the door to use of other drugs, impaired health, delinquent behavior, and drugged drivers."

Allen St. Pierre, spokesman for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, likened Frank's proposal -- co-sponsored by Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas -- to current laws dealing with alcohol consumption. Alcohol use is permitted, and the government focuses its law enforcement efforts on those who abuse alcohol or drive under its influence, he said.

"We do not arrest and jail responsible alcohol drinkers," he said.

St. Pierre said there are tens of millions of marijuana smokers in the United States, including himself, and hundreds of thousands are arrested each year for medical or personal use.

There have been 20 million marijuana-related arrests since 1965, he said, and 11 million since 1990, and "every 38 seconds, a marijuana smoker is arrested."

Rob Kampia, director of the Marijuana Policy Project, said marijuana arrests outnumber arrests for "all violent crimes combined," meaning police are spending inordinate amounts of time chasing nonviolent criminals.

"Ending arrests is the key to marijuana policy reform," he said.

Reps. William Lacy Clay, D-Missouri, and Barbara Lee, D-California, said that in addition to targeting nonviolent offenders, U.S. marijuana laws unfairly target African-Americans.

Clay said he did not condone drug use but opposes using tax dollars to pursue what he feels is an arcane holdover from "a phony war on drugs that is filling up our prisons, especially with people of color."

Too many drug enforcement resources are being dedicated to incarcerating nonviolent drugs users, and not enough is being done to stop the trafficking of narcotics into the United States, he said.

Being arrested is not the American marijuana smoker's only concern, said Bill Piper of the Drug Policy Alliance Network. Those found guilty of marijuana use can lose their jobs, financial aid for college, their food stamp and welfare benefits, or their low-cost housing.

The U.S. stance on marijuana, Piper said, "is one of the most destructive criminal justice policies in America today."

Calling the U.S. policy "inhumane" and "immoral," Lee said she has many constituents who are harassed or arrested for using or cultivating marijuana for medical purposes. California allows medical marijuana use, but the federal government does not, she explained.

House Resolution 5843, titled the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2008, would express support for "a very small number of individuals" suffering from chronic pain or illness to smoke marijuana with impunity.

According to NORML, marijuana can be used to treat a range of illnesses, including glaucoma, asthma, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS and seizures.

Frank, who is chairman of the Financial Services Committee, said that about a dozen states have approved some degree of medical marijuana use and that the federal government should stop devoting resources to arresting people who are complying with their states' laws.

In a shot at Republicans, Frank said it was strange that those who support limited government want to criminalize marijuana.

Asked whether the resolution's passage would change his personal behavior, Frank quipped, "I do obey every law I vote for" but quickly said he did not use marijuana, nor does he encourage it.

"I smoke cigars. I don't think other people should do that. If young people ask me, I would advise them not to do it," he said.

If HR 5843 were passed, the House would support marijuana smokers possessing up to 100 grams -- about 3½ ounces -- of cannabis without being arrested. It would also give its blessing to the "nonprofit transfer" of up to an ounce of marijuana.

The resolution would not address laws forbidding growing, importing or exporting marijuana, or selling it for profit. The resolution also would not speak to state laws regarding marijuana use.

It's about time some responsible lawmakers woke up and "smelled the herb". The laws on the books regulating and pertaining to marijuana are "antiquated" at best. They are out of touch and have no business in todays society. The same goes for the DEA geeks with their mumbo jumbo about marijuana. They don't have a clue! The funny thing is, "most of the dorks that want to "major criminalize" marijuana, I would venture to say, "are liquor drinking, beer guzzling alcoholics". Social or hardcore. Lets get this legislation passed. NOW!

Lynx, Powerball, And Florida Ignorance

Will Lynx gamble on bus ads for Powerball? Lottery ads vs. revenue tests Lynx scruples

SANFORD - Lynx might hit the jackpot.

Bus agency officials say a Florida Lottery advertising firm has inquired about promoting a new multistate drawing on public buses.

Transportation officials said the possibility of lottery advertising could patch some budget problems. But family-values advocates say it is immoral to prey on lower-income riders who use Lynx to get to work.

According to an April study, more than a third of Lynx riders earn less than $15,000 a year.

"I will not support it," Lynx board Chairman Carlton Henley said. "I can't support advertising gambling or alcohol. I think that's morally wrong."

Henley, a Seminole County commissioner, shot down Anheuser-Busch's attempt to advertise its beer and theme parks on Lynx's buses earlier this year. Fellow board members followed suit.

Even such financial woes aren't enough to justify ads for immoral behavior, said Dennis Baxley, executive director of the Christian Coalition of Florida. He said advertising for Powerball would be "perpetuating false hopes."

"This type of program will prey on the people who can afford it the least," Baxley said. "Visit your nearest convenience store and see who's buying lottery tickets."

When I read a story like this, it just re-affirms my beliefs about how naive, ignorant, arrogant and stupid people are. Stories like this make me want to "throw up".

Here YOU have two pompous righteous brain washed idiots spewing some of the most ignorant crap I have ever heard. First of all, "NO ONE elected YOU to your position to regulate anyones morals Carlton Henley! Your job is to make sure the buses keep running and Lynx operates efficiently. Yeah, it's morally wrong to advertise "gambling", but, it's not morally wrong to take away peoples only mode of transportation for your moralistic bs. Is it morally wrong for kids to go to school and get educated with "lottery" money? Didn't think so. It's jerks like YOU that have this country so screwed up.

Dennis Baxley, executive director of the christian coalition of Florida, needs to stop talking about immoral behavior in a scenario that has nothing to do with his immoral operation. Yeah Dennis, YOU and all your other religious hustlers out there need to check your deeds. Perpetuating the biggest myth on this planet, religion that is, is major immoral behavior.

Maybe these two losers can start a "car pool" for all the people who need bus service and can no longer get it. For the rest of this story, go to Will Lynx gamble on bus ads for Powerball? Lottery ads vs. revenue tests Lynx
